The new town hall in Jablonec nad Nisou was constructed as a multipurpose building. It was intended to become not only a modern seat of the municipal administration but also the community centre and cultural centre offering various services to the inhabitants of the town. Several important business companies located their seats in the building, there were shops on the groundfloor.A large restaurant, a café and a wine-cellar waited for their guests and the largest cinema in what was then Czechoslovakia was opened here.
Nowadays, the new town hall continues to be the seat of the Town Council. A new hall for official wedding ceremonies has been opened on the first floor. The cinema has been modernized and business firms are still keen to have their shops on the groundfloor. Next to the main entrance, two information centres have their offices. The total area taken by the town hall makes 2428 sqm.
